With evidence of prehistoric & dinosaur egg remains, the area now known as Sillans la Cascade has been inhabited for centuries. Despite evidence of a Roman settlement, the village dates from the 11th Century. Various families have built chateaux here, but the remaining building dates from 1800 and is now inhabited by the town hall. The cascade that gives its name to the village is part of the river Bresque which comes down from Fox-Amphoux. It falls 44 m with a succession of natural gorges. The river continues towards Entrecasteaux, Salernes & empties into the Argens river east of Carces.
