Set in between the hills including the Loube mountain at 836 m and with the Issole river running through it, this village in the centre of the Var region has really kept its authentic charm and ambience. The route into the centre of the village is lined by old plane trees and leads to the St Saviour Church dating from the 15th Century. With strong similarities in architecture to the basilica at St Maximin la Ste Baume, they hold regular concerts here owing to the excellent acoustics. In front of the tower is one of the many fountains in the village - the water is drinkable - dating from 1792. The chapel of Notre Dame of the Inspiration is one of the best known buildings in the area set on the top of the hill, it was first the site of a roman enclave, then a feudal castle. It's amphitheatre dominates the plain and welcomes pilgrims on the 8th September. Outside the village, roman remains were found and you can visit a former roman farm/vineyard. At 3 km is the hamlet of Molieres with the Chapel of St Louis perched high above the valley - a successful renovation of a formerly abandoned medieval hamlet. There are also the Laoucian lakes, numerous tributaries and various caves with Neolithic remains to discover in the surrounding area.
